PART of this year’s Blues Festival in Dungannon will include a special screening of John Landis’ cult-classic the Blues Brothers by the Dungannon Film Club on Saturday 26 July at 7.30pm, in the town’s Arts & Visitor Centre.
The event’s organizers are expecting some well-dressed dudes and dudettes to turn up on the night to channel their inner Jake and Elwood. Along with the screening of the film itself, there’ll be live music on the night to get everyone in the mood for shaking their tail feathers.
Landis’ film stars John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as “Joliet” Jake and Elwood Blues, characters developed on the NBC variety series Saturday Night Live. The story is a tale of redemption for paroled convict Jake and his brother Elwood, who take on “a mission from God” to save from foreclosure the Catholic orphanage in which they grew up.
Dungannon film club, which recently celebrated its first birthday, is a newly formed not-for-profit voluntary community organisation. Their aim is to bring people together in a relaxed and social environment to share great movies.
Tickets for this event cost £7 each, they can be purchased directly from the film club’s website, or by contacting the Arts & Visitor Centre directly on 02887728600.
