KENNETH Branagh will bring his new film Disney’s Cinderella to Belfast audiences for a Special Charity Premiere at 4.30pm at Movie House Cinemas, Dublin Road, Belfast on March 22nd, in aid of NICVA and INTO FILM.

Kenneth Branagh says: “I am delighted to be able to come to Belfast to introduce the film before it opens at the end of March. Way back in 1989 I brought my first directorial film, Henry V, to Belfast and it is always exciting to come home to your home city to show your work. I am delighted too that this screening will benefit two fantastic charities, NICVA (Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action) and Into Film, a film education charity that puts film at the heart of the educational and personal development of children and young people”.

CINDERELLA follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family.

Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” When she meets a dashing stranger  in the woods, unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace and Ella feels she’s met a kindred soul.

When the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham Carter) steps forward and – armed with a pumpkin and a few mice – changes Cinderella’s life forever.

Tickets are £12 for adults and £8 for children (16 and under) with a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) for £35. Tickets are available from NICVA only, check out their website for more details.

Cinderella opens in UK cinemas on March 27th 2015.
