THE Roe Valley Arts & Cultural centre will be screening the Academy Award winning thriller The Third Man on Saturday 2 August at 2pm. Carol Reed’s feature is hailed as one of the best films ever made, praised for it’s atmospheric cinematography, fantastic performances, and wonderful musical score.
Orson Welles stars as the enigmatic Harry Limes, tracked down by his childhood friend Holly Martins (Joseph Cotten) in Post-war Vienna. What Martins uncovers is betrayal, intrigue and danger. Directed by Reed, with a screenplay written by acclaimed writer Graham Greene, with Welles in the lead role, this film can do no wrong and is just as gripping now as it was on its first release in 1949.
