ON this, the third of our 4 short, topic specific podcasts Mat, Jim, Richard and Gareth cast their eyes over the many special events happening at this year’s festival. Over the year’s the people behind the scenes at the Belfast Film Festival have continually outdone themselves in creating fresh new cinematic experiences for cinema-loving audiences here in Belfast, and this year they have unveiled a wonderfully eclectic mix of events that will surely cater to almost every cinematic need.
We pick our must-see events and suggest something a little different from the norm for viewers. We also interviewed two local contributors to this year’s festival, Carol Murphy and Brian Mulholland. Carol will be shooting and editing together a short fashion film which will be shown at Blick studios on Hill Street at 5pm on 20 April, the event is free and from our chat with Carol sounds like it could be a hidden gem at this year’s festival.
Brian Mulholland is the man behind Belfast’s Film Devour short film festival, the regular event at Belfast’s Black Box. It has developed a somewhat cult following from amateur filmmakers from across the country, each using the event to showcase their considerable cine talent. Taking place during the Belfast Film Festival for the first time, the event on Monday 15 April, promises to be a great night for all of those lucky enough to have a ticket.
