WELCOME back to The BanterFlix CineCast, hot on the heels of our Oscar review show comes the first in a series of special podcasts dedicated to the forthcoming Belfast Film Festival.
Throughout the festival we’ll be broadcasting a series of podcasts, and we’re kicking everything off with our preview of this year’s events. Join us as Jim, Mat, Richard and Leigh take a look through the festival’s extensive programme, picking out our must-see events and some more left field suggestions for viewers seeking something a little different this year.
For visitors coming from outside the city, we’ve also included a handy location guide for the festival’s various screening locations.
We have a few special guests, including local filmmaker George Clarke, Film Devour’s Brian Mulholland and the Ulster Quartet’s Danny McCann-Williams and Sian Hetherington. We also sat down with Cian Smyth, the festival’s Maysles Documentary programmer and chatted about the various documentaries in contention for this year’s competition.
Running from the 27th March until the 5th April, this year will see over 121 different screenings and special events taking place throughout Belfast in a variety of locations, with films from over 36 different countries across the world.
From the opening night première of Diarmuid Lavery and Michael Hewitt’s motorcycling documentary Road, to the closing night’s screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic Dial ‘M’ for Murder in 3D, we’ll do our best to cover as much of this year’s jam-packed line-up.
Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to keep up to date with what we’re up to throughout the festival.
