Join BanterFlix at the Strand Arts Centre on Saturday 9th March as we celebrate International Woman’s Day with a screening of Penny Marshall’s A League of Their Own.
Marshall’s 1992 feature, a fictionalized account of the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL), stars Geena Davis, Tom Hanks, Madonna, Rosie O’Donnell, and Lori Petty.

This screening is part of BanterFlix’s new strand of programming called Game Changers, a celebration of women who’ve helped change the cinematic narrative, both in front of and behind the camera.
We’re kicking off this programme by celebrating the work of Penny Marshall, who sadly passed away in December last year. An actress and filmmaker, who starred in the hit American sit-com Laverne & Shirley and was the first female director to helm a film that grossed over $100 million, with her 1988 feature Big.
After the screening, BanterFlix’s Colette Fahy will host a short discussion with special guests as they explore some of the topics raised within the feature.
