BanterFlix and the Braid Film Theatre have teamed up with the Comic Book Guys to put on a very special event for Free Comic Book Day (Saturday 5th May) this year as they screen the extended ‘TV Cut’ of Richard Donner’s Superman at the Odyssey Cinema in Belfast.

Decades before extended cuts were commonplace, Donner’s film received an ahead-of-its-time makeover for its television premiere, with nearly 40 minutes of additional footage added to celebrate the occasion. Unseen for decades, Superman fans in Belfast will finally have the chance to see this version of the film on the big screen as we celebrate not only the 40th Anniversary of Donner’s film but also the 80th anniversary of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster’s iconic creation.

As if this event wasn’t special enough the Comic Book Guys have commissioned local illustrator and comic-book artist Mark Reihill to produce a special print to mark the occasion. They’ll be onsite on the night with a Superman-themed stall and this will be your best opportunity to get your hands on this limited-edition print.

The film will be introduced by BanterFlix’s Jim McClean and Tim Burden from the Braid Film Theatre as they briefly discuss the significance of this version of Donner’s film.
