BanterFlix has announced that the inaugural programme of their Dark Hedges International Film Festival will kick-off with a 35mm screening of Mary Harron’s American Psycho to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary at the historic Strand Cinema in East Belfast on Saturday 24th October. (8:30 pm).
Tickets can be booked here.
The screening will kick-off a week of screenings and events that will take place both physically and digitally due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
During the past few months, we’ve watched as some our beloved venues have struggled to cope during the COVID pandemic, so planning for the inaugural programme of the Dark Hedges International Film Festival has been a complicated process, to say the least.
Although we would have loved to welcome our audiences to a cinema and present our festival’s programme entirely in a cinematic setting, like so many other local organizations we’ve had to adapt to the ever-changing, challenging situation. That is why we have decided to move the majority of our programme online, to a purposely build Digital Player.
But nothing beats the atmosphere of the cinema, especially when it comes to horror films! So we’re delighted to still be presenting some of our programming on the big screen and we’re kicking it all off with a 35mm screening of American Psycho.

More details will be announced on Monday 05 October when the festival’s full programme is announced.
